The first international conference ” Model European Union Kosovo 2016″ today has concluded a four-day conference.
In this conference participated 200 young people from across Europe ,where their goal was simulation of the legislative processes of the EU.
Participants played roles of Commissioners, Ministers, MPs, lobbyists and journalists simulating real situations of legislative decision-making in the EU institutions.
In the plenary hall of the Assembly of Kosova ,on the last day was simulated the European Parliament.
In the opening speech of the conference, the Executive Director of the instituteof ICHAT, Besmir Kokollari thanked all the supporters who made possible the Model European Union Kosovo 2016 ,and also all participants in this four-day conference.
“I want to thank those who supported and facilitated the implementation of the Model European Union, Kosovo 2016: Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports, the Assembly of Kosovo, support of ICCTW and all partners that are here,” said Kokollari.
Inter alia the Director of iChat, talked about the values of this conference and the opportunities that this very important event for Kosovo provided for youth.
“Model European Union is an event that is distinguished by the educational value, academic excellence and professionalism, which makes it one of the most successful and prestigious simulations in the world. Moreover, creating a truly European atmosphere on a clean European environment, as a contributor to the goal of European integration and in showing the European identity .Model of the European Union gave the opportunity to the youth to interact ,to know better each other, and to simulate the legislative procedures of the European Union ,which is the destination and purpose of Kosovo “ended Kokollari.
Whereas the Director of Youth Department in Ministry of Culture, Xhevat Bajrami said he was very pleased with this initiative of Kosovo’s youth ,to discuss the problem of visa liberalization and according to him ,with this simulation conference of the European Union ,they will affect a little bit in this issue.
“I am very pleased that so many young people from different European countries have decided to discuss visa liberalization and hope that with this work will help a little bit Kosovo’s path towards visa liberalization,” said Bajrami.
In this conference was also present the Deputy Minister of European Integration , Ramadan Ilazi , which welcomed this conference and motivated all young people for their initiative and institute of iCHAT ,for doing a great job.
“This conference that is being held for the first time in Kosovo is more than welcomed, where through youth, our country requires as all neighboring countries that we have the right to move freely in European countries but also that most countries support visa liberalization for Kosovo “ended Ilazi.
Participants debated on the process of visa liberalization and the current refugee crisis.
In six separate groups, youth presented resolutions that had formed, whereas at the end of the conference youth voted for one of resolution ,where with 89 votes in favor, one against and no abstentions, was approved the resolution on visa liberalization for citizens of Kosovo by the attendees.
At the end of the four-day stay in Kosovo, certificates were distributed to the participants , by the Institute for Qualitative Research, Analysis and Training (iCHAT) and the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports.
